Raceway Park Spotlight, #49, Zach Fedorchik May 19,2007

Our Raceway Park spotlight this week is on 10 year old, 9-12 Rookie cage driver, Zach Fedorchick. "The Zach Attack", a 4th grade student at the Midd West School District, and driver of the #49 cart entry, is in his first full season as a rookie cart racer, and lives in nearby Middleburg.  Last season, Zach got his feet wet at Raceway Park by competing in one race near the end of the season, to see what the Go Cart world of racing was all about. His evaluation of the competition at the Park was tough and solid, but it was something the youngster wanted to do full time in the upcoming 2007 race season. While his first win hasn't come yet, nor has he led a lap yet in a main event,  he has broken into the top five in the overall point standings in the 9-12 Rookie cage division. One top five finish early in the season, and the consistency of finishing each and every race, piled with more and more seat time on a weekly basis, have given Zach the confidence he needs to give it all he has to run with the top competitors in that cart class. The 9-12 cage division is one of the most competitive divisions of them all at Raceway Park, as well as having the most competitors on a weekly basis. Twelve to fourteen carts are entered every week, making Zach's rookie year even tougher to bring home top five finishes. But Zach is determined to someday bring home a win for the Fedorchick Motorsports cart team, whether it be at Raceway Park, or nearby PennsCreek Raceway Park, which the team has also raced at earlier this year

Zach's parents, Buffy and Tim, head the pit crew with assistance from his brother Brant, Brian Harro, and Cody Keller. Jimmer Power is behind the horsepower of the motors, while a Lazer AV-1 is the Chassis of choice for the rookie.
MVT Flooring, Kwik Kurb, Kellers Auto Body, Total Concepts, Lexi's Cleaning & Detailing, and White's Catering all sponsor the #49 cart team.
Zach's career highlight to date in his young career, is his first ever top five finish earlier this year, and his opportunity to be sitting in the top five in the point standings. His career lowlight thus far, was his first ever contact with the turn four guardrail at Penns Creek Raceway a few weeks back. Something had to give, and it wasn't the wall. But a few new parts later, and Zach was back in action the following week.
Zach's inspiration to race competitively comes from close friend, and veteran Latemodel driver Eric Zembower. Zach's cart number reflects his loyal ship to Zembower, as they both race blue and red  #49's.
Zach would like to add a special thanks to his Dad for making his racing dream possibly come true. In years to come, Zach hopes that one day he can follow in Eric Zembower's footsteps, and drive a Super Latemodel at the big half mile.
